[RC] Rides you haven't been to - Sharon Hahn

I agree that having a ride flyer or other information is helpful.  However, especially when going out of your area, I would check on anything that might be important and try to talk to a rider from that area about what a "normal" ride in their region is like.  The ride manager may not think to mention something if it is "normal" for that area.  For example, I expect a normal Minnesota ride to include all vet checks in camp and I expect to bring something for a potluck dinner on Saturday.  If normal for your area includes lunch for the riders and hay for the horses provided by management, you might be surprised when you get here, but we don't put "no lunch or hay" on our flyers.  Similarly, if my little flatlander horse and I went out west, we'd probably fall off the mountain and die 1/2 mile into the ride, but ride management might consider that ride as "easy" compared to others in the area.  Also, if you or your horse have any idiosyncrasies that might make certain "normal" rides challenging, such as unshod hooves or a fear of bridges or water crossings, definitely ask about that!
