Maybe some would prefer because you don't have to ride all thru the night? Just a thought.

Why would people prefer a 2 day 100 vs. 2 50s? Just curious.
I think making the ride more manageable and having VCs in camp is fine if it means keeping the ride. Matter of fact, very few CT rides have out of camp VCs - which can create logistics issues when you are used to putting your horse in their pen for 99 out of 100 holds!

Barbara..I vote a 2-day 100!! I think you would have more predictable attendance as well!

Having never done the ride, I can't comment on the same trail or not. But I've heard that there are sections that are gorgeous - that go through the redwoods, sections where one can see the ocean, etc. I'd hate to not be able to ride those! But I don't know if those would be included in the new routes you're proposing.
As for a 2-day 100...NOOOOOOOOO! That's not a 100!!!!! I for one would not come out there for a 2-day "100." Blech.
Many riders who came to Swanton Pacific are begging for it to continue. I would like the answer to a very important question: How important is it to riders who want it to continue to keep the same trail? Is it THE trail or just the general area? Would trails within the Swanton area be as satisfactory?
I know riders like the ride camp, and that wouldn't change. We could put on a ride much easier if we kept the trail in the general area of Swanton, Rancho del Oso State Park and even the nearer portions of Big Basin Park, do loops that come back into camp for the major vet checks, do a 2-day 100, do a 50 and a 75. One of the big efforts put out for this ride is transporting water to various remote sites, holding vet checks far afield, etc. Holding a ride with the base camp as the site for all the major vet checks would make it SO much easier for us.
