[RC] HRM Garmin - Roger Rittenhouse

I have a Garmin 305 with the Polar HRM modified for equine use, but
since the Garmin only lasts about 8 hrs, I’d like another receiver so I
can continue to monitor the HR after the Garmin battery dies. Is this
possible?

NO see below sent to the AERC list

OK I will jump in..I am certainly qualified to address this, since I started using the Garmin 301 (adapted to my horse) about 3 or 4 years ago when they came out.
The G301/ G305 use the same technology.

The HR transmitters are proprietary. The G301 and the G305 use different HR transmitters.. NOTHING on the market is cross compatible. The G301 uses a unique HR transmitter and so does the G305, they are NOT interchangeable.

The technology is sort of like bluetooth and it is digital packet transmission.
Once a G301 or G305 locks on to a give transmitter it stays connected.
You can however switch to another Garmin HR transmitter for the respective model. When the unit is turned on it searches for a HR transmitter. The first one it finds - it locks on to that one.

So if you loose a HR transmitter or it dies you get another one from Garmin and it will work.

Again to make it clear, NOTHING from any manufacture will provide the HR signal to G301 or G305 but the Garmin HR transmitters.

The HR transmitter adapter kit I developed is easy and yes it works great. Over 500 plus riders using them.. of course you can roll your own but results may vary.
