We saw the results of one of these in, as I remember,
Montana. A whole swath of forest was flattened. It was so unusual,
that an explanatory display was placed beside the highway, detailing the
meteorology that comes into play during such an event.
There is speculation that Silver HIll MEadow
experienced what is known as a Down Burst, (sudden down rush of wind
accompanied by a thunderstorm often mistaken as a tornado).
