Surface factors are supposed to apply to things like
interference boo-boos, splint boot/saddle/pad/assorted tack rubs, bee stings, Got
Poked By A Cactus, things like that. A lost shoe would usually be most
appropriate to RO-L. There’s a LOT of potential overlap and
discretion between categories, (which I realize drives some people wild)---ie,
some horses (and this is a true pull, not an RO thing) show up as lame, but the
underlying cause is a metabolic problem, ie tying up. The initial
observation is “lame”, but the pull is often most appropriate as a
Metabolic.
I think we should also add RO-HLTFBOT (Hey, Looky, There’s
Free Beer Over There).

Okay then, how about the lost shoe scenario being RO-surface
factors? Since the shoe is gone, the horse isn’t lame, could go on if
they won’t, but don’t want to risk it.
What do you think? I like TJAMD and WWIT, and would like to add
SMHIIC (something might happen if I continue) (:>)
