I have done a couple of rider option pulls for me not for the horse and I was told to go through the vet check before I could leave. It's for that very reason.. your horse still has to be "fit to continue" to get an RO. Otherwise it will get a metabolic or lameness pull.

 

and as a rider, I want to know that my horse is OK, so I appreciate that.

May I ask why you would not want to see the vet? Especially if you think there may be an issue with metabolics? I would think you would want the vets aware, just in case things went from bad to worse...
