culture, the Bedouin would literally give the shirt off their back to
another friend. The bestowing of gifts on one another, and especially
guests, was very special, and sacred. not to curry favor, but to show
honor and respect."
AERC crowns a 'War Mare' award annually.
This mare led the Bedouin tribes into battle. She
was honored to the extent that she "lived in the tent" and was considered
priceless. The greatest gift of all was the giving of this mare to
another. The highest honor and sign of respect that could be
bestowed.
