Northwest Egypt and northeast Libya are probably one of the more heavily mined areas in the world. Lot of it is old WWII junk and wildly unstable.Hint: stay on the road. Maryanne ps. the logistics of this ride would be a real monster. Where ever you start, unless you bring your feed with you, it will be changing wildly as you travel. You will have to travel in the fall, I'd say, to avoid spring sandstorms and you have to stay pretty close to the coast to assure yourself of water. But there's no food at all on the trail. Sahara Desert means "Desert Desert" or desert squared. NOTHING there but sand.
