RE: [RC] [RC] Outlaw Trail 1998--nostalgiac moment - Ranelle Rubin
Marlene,
Trusting my horse to get me there is something I instictively do, HOWEVER.. I have to be careful. Last year on a Duck ride, we were on day two and crossed over a trail we had ridden the day before. Fellow tried to turn right when we were supposed to go straight. Right would have taken us to the place where we had the lunch stop (FOOD!) the previous day. He fought a big fight on that one. Ann Hall was laughing at me and said it was a good thing my horse was an endurance horse, because she had never seen an Arab that liked to eat so much!
I am sure he considers an endurance ride nothing more than one huge buffet with a few miles of trail between each course.

“Crockett had a spray
can of white paint (which was water soluble) .
he would spray little
puffs/drops of white on things to mark the way.
Ends of pine tree branches
with white tips, just eye high so you'd
see them:) I do recall being
on my hands in the rocks bending to
taste the white spot to see
if it was a trail marking -- it was not:(“
Heehee, I remember white
paint on white aspen trees, yellow paint on yellow (fallen) aspen leaves, black
paint on black rocks and pink paint on pink flowers. The next marker was within
site of the last one – if you could see it! We only got lost once,
where some flowers had lost their petals. Finally we just let one horse
that thought she knew where she was going determine the path for us – and
she was right!
