[RC] AERC fees - Bruce Weary DCHi Carrie--The fees we pay at AERC rides are to cover the administrative costs, among other things, in the daily business affairs of the organization. They are not charged as a way of purchasing points or mileage. All of our membership fees and ride fees help to go to pay for everything involved in running and protecting AERC--insurance policies, admin staff, keeping stats, convention, awards, publishing Endurance News, etc.,. Those costs are more or less spread evenly over the entire membership even though not all members may be receiving the same miles, points, year-end awards, etc.,. Anyone who joins AERC is immediately a member of the community of endurance riding. To what level they participate, I guess, will determine how much they *feel* a part of that community. Membership by itself offers certain perks and advantages. It's up to every member to heighten what they get out of it by what they put into it.
