Re: [RC] LD and placings - Barbara McCraryNot only "not as much fun", but you would not have the experience on the trail with other riders, learn the procedures of vetting, manage your horse against the trail with other riders on it, etc. LD simply offers endurance experiences, not just covering the miles on a trail.Barbara ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kitley, Carrie E Civ USAF AFSPC 30 MDSS/SGSLF" <carrie.kitley@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <Marinera@xxxxxxx>; <ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, July 07, 2008 7:51 AM Subject: RE: [RC] LD and placings I also could never say I've been treated like a 2nd class citizen rider. We've been treated with kindness and concern at the rides, just like all the other riders, but I think in the sense of the overall rules and what counts and what doesn't, there is disparaging evidence against LD rides counting for anything more than just another training ride. I believe that's what she meant. I could stay close to home, save a ton of $$ on gas and sleep in my own bed and ride 25 miles on our own trails, but I don't. It's just plain not as much fun!! I prefer the personal challenge of different trails, meeting new friends, and camping with my sweet hubby and my horse. :) Carrie Kitley 30th Medical Group, Vandenberg AFB DMLSS Database Sustainment Specialist (DSS) CACI International Inc www.caci.com dsn 276-1077, Comm (805) 606-1077 fax dsn 276-1179 <\_~ // \\ carrie.kitley@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx -----Original Message----- From: ridecamp-owner@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:ridecamp-owner@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Marinera@xxxxxxx Sent: Thursday, July 03, 2008 8:42 PM To: ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [RC] LD and placings Barbara, I thank you for your response to the writer who said " I see no reason to attend a ride where I would automatically be classified as second class." I really agree with her. I don't blame her. I wouldn't either. However, in 43 years in this sport, i just haven't found the ride that treated me that way regardless of the distance traveled, and I have done them all. Julie
