RE: [RC] Lighter Note - Barn placement - Mellifluous
There are many factors to consider when looking at barn placement. Here is a list of things to start with:
-What direction does the bulk of the building face?
-Can it be protected from northwest winds in the winter yet able to take advantage of cooling southeastern breezes in the summer?
-How does stormwater flow around the barn? Is it prone to becoming a mucky mess around it after a few rains? Or worse, can water get into the barn (I have seen this).
As far as close vs far from the house - consider rodents, snakes and smells. If you have a way to mitigate that, no problem.
