Re: [RC] Permission not to pass (was: Fireworks ride...) - Barbara McCraryAnd, Truman, some horses can never be trained to stay behind at a discreet distance. I've ridden some of them. They just seem so herd-bound that it causes terror in them should they be 25 feet behind the horse in front. Or perhaps they are so dominant that they want to be leading. I'm not saying it's ideal, but I never found the answer to dealing with that kind of horse. Fortunately, I don't have that problem in my current mount.Barbara ----- Original Message ----- From: "Truman Prevatt" <tprevatt@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: "Ridecamp Correspondence Correspondence" <ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, June 26, 2008 3:16 PM Subject: Re: [RC] Permission not to pass (was: Fireworks ride...) Only on Ridecamp. If a horse is so close you can feel his breath on the back of your neck - you have a right to complain. If a rider is riding 20 meters behind another rider - that is his/her business and he/she has a perfect right to do so as long as they might want. A person's personal space doesn't not include a zone 2 kilometers behind them ;-) . A person can only lay claim to a small portion of the trail - the rest is free game. If you can't control your horse because a rider or group of rides is 20 meters behind you - your horse is not trained well enough to be out on the trail in an endurance ride. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
