with all due respect to all - truly - it is certainly possible and frankly
all too common to find that time is just not available to bring a horse up to
that level whenever one desires. Such things as family, children, work, injury,
finances all play into it. It seems more and more true - even when one chooses
the obvious alternative of rating their sport as first priority - and many
people either do not have the constitution to do so or cannot manage to do so.
Honestly, sadder than someone who cannot yet fit a horse for the longer and
more... respected distances:) is the person who so prioritizes his or her life
so as to HAVE not much of a life outside of the sport - or ANY sport.
I recognize that the huge majority of people place high calling on family,
education and by necessity, work - all of which affect financial. It would be
inaccurate to assume that everyone can "make" the time to reach higher at some
point in their lives. It WOULD be accurate to at least project that if either
everyone in a person's close circle of family and associates was involved OR the
person had less interest in those people and associations than others - then
that person likely COULD pursue higher goals - assuming finances allowed. There
are many factors. In any case, completing a 25 miler for a child, a senior, a
handicapped person - are all higher accomplishments than one would witness in
most ANY show ring. :)
