Re: [RC] Hay prices - Lynne Glazer

Just ordered hay, 20 bales, 17 Bermuda, 3 "heavy" alfalfa at about 130 lbs. ?Delivered price $328, that probably includes a fee of $7.50 plus tax of course.

With a discount for buying 20, it's around $14 for Bermuda, $18 for alfalfa. ?Up $2 from a year ago. ?Fuel is affecting me more than the hay price, with a diesel at 20 mpg.

Funnily enough, I was just doing my monthly phone-
around to find out which feed stores have got what
by way of hay. This is for the Auburn, CA area:

Feed Store #1:
Orchard Grass - $16.50 (105 lbs)
Rye grass - $16.00 (115 lbs)
3-grain - $14.50 (110 lbs)
oat - $16.00 (125 lbs)

Feed Store #2:
Orchard/Pasture grass - $14.50
Timothy - $17.50
90/10 grass/alfalfa - $17.00
3-grain - $14.50 (108-1150 lbs)
Oat - $13.50

I'm feeding 8 horses right now - all on dry lots, so this is
their only food supply - and golly do those porkers eat a
lot... It definitely narrowed my budget for going to Rides
this year <sniff>.
