Re: [RC] [RC] [RC] [Endurance Riding: News] FEI: Proposed Rule Changes for Endurance - Maryanne GabbaniI bet that you'd see a REAL change in the way racing is done in the Middle East if that rule read "NO vehicles other than a steward's car is allowed on the track". If there was a real possiblity that they'd actually have to (Shudder!!) WALK back 20 km, they might be a bit more careful. And we wouldn't have those damn water bottles all over the bloody desert every time there is an FEI ride. That circus trick of tossing water bottles to moving riders really should go.In this area, the local riders looked at the example being set by the UAE and even on friendly rides they had jeeps out "just to be sure that there are no problems". My personal phrase for someone who has to be followed by a car in order to ride a horse in the desert is Incompetent Wuss. You have to wonder if it's about riding horses or chasing horses in cars, like they used to hunt gazelles? And believe me, the amount of dust kicked up by all those SUV's is enough to give you and your horse a massive case of allergic bronchitis. One of the absolute worst rules that the FEI inserted early on was this allowing of "crew" vehicles to follow. Those are the "authorised" cars. Turns it into car racing with horses to look at.
