[RC] Show Jumping (was: Eventing Classic Format) - k s swigart

Truman Prevatt said about this year's show jumping Budweiser Grand Prix:

This year there were 27 horses and only 3 horses had
clean rounds.

Compared with 20 years ago:

There were about 8 horses with clean first rounds that
ended up in the jump-off.

One explanation for this, rather than the change in the type of horse
being used (which it has), is that Show Jumping fences have become MUCH
easier to knock down.

It used to be that in order to jump Grand Prix, you had to jump big; now
you have to jump big AND careful.

Personally, I think the changes in show jumping are an improvement as
they are a better test of both rider skill and horse training.

To compare it with endurance, show jumping grand prix courses have
become more "technical."
