Actually, this sounds like the Dubai answer to the difficulties of  
becoming the permanent venue for the WEC. The ride entrants are  
relatively/loosely related to the FEI world rankings list (although I  
don't see Mercedes there:( and seems to be mostly populated with  
riders from EU and GCC.

It would be very nice if they learned from MAS/SultansCup and spread  
that 1.5 MILLION Dh. over all the finishers instead of giving it away  
to the first place guys, and just gave an inscription on the Maktoum  
Cup to the winners (IMO)
