I started having foot pain a few years ago on rides over 20
miles. I noticed last year that when I wore my winter Ariat boots I didn’t
have foot pain after a 50 but when I switched to my Ariat Terrains I had foot
pain within 12 miles. So I went on line to find out the difference.
The winter boots have a steel shank in them and are much firmer on the
sole. I am now riding in a pair of Ropers Horseshoes which have a steel
shank and am having no foot pain. I haven’t done a 100 in them yet
but will in a month. So I would recommend looking for a steel shank in
the boot you select. I also put sorbothane insoles in them for concussion
control. I have skinny feet ( run in Asics Gel 1120).
