RE: [RC] My Biltmore Heartbreak - Sluys GuysEd, I know where you went wrong because it happened to me and a number of other people too at the same place. At the 'big rock' there was an arrow pointing forward with a well worn trail leading slightly off to the right and an obscure trail leading slightly left across the road which is where the trail was supposed to go. We somehow took the right trail and in a very short time saw another white marker so it never seemed like we were off trail at all. I knew we had gone wrong when we arrived at the finish line in 45 minutes (we were not riding that fast). When I looked at my map I realized our mistake and we started the loop over taking the correct turn this time. I figured we did about 5 extra miles or so to get back on the right course. Sorry for your mistake, I know how it must have felt. I'm proud of my horse for doing the extra mileage and finishing looking so well, we still finished in 7:15. I figured we did at least 58 miles all together which is the farthest we have ever been (more than half way to a hundred hmmmmmmm...........)
