The other version of a similar story: my daughter and I were riding along an old log road and came across a huge long-haired black bear, only it was cinnamon colored as a few are. Our horses were not a bit nervous and neither was the bear. It just would not get out of the trail so we finally got off and walked toward it shouting and waving our arms. Eventually, it lumbered off into the timber. Thinking back on it, we could just as well stayed mounted.
