Re: [RC] mud and respect - Truman PrevattStop whining we get 16 inches in a day at times ;-) . Of course sand drains well and it's gone at my place in 30 minutes after it stops - no mud. It's the soil and not so much the rain that makes the difference. When you get up into the confluence of the Tennessee, Ohio and Cumberland river valleys - in most places you have a choice: yellow clay or red clay. A week of rain of about a half inch a day can saturate the soil and any more turns that area into a big mud hole - especially in the spring when the ground starts out damp to start with.
