RE: [RC] state fair express unofficial ride results - heidiDon't you still just look at the hip/shoulder fall? I realize the timing might be different in a gaited horse, but after you get a feel for the timing, it's still just the evenness of the hip/shoulder fall isn't it? Not "just" that, no--although that tells you a lot. One also looks for the symmetry of head movement, the evenness of reach and footfall, etc., and if the surface is at all hard, one listens for evenness. I really like examining horses' motion on a firm surface, because often one can HEAR an offness before one can see it.
