Re: [RC] Endurance in Russia! - Laney HumphreyThe Don horses look a lot like Akhal Tekes, another Russian breed. I wonder what the relationship is, if any, between the two breeds.Laney Steph Teeter wrote: Yes, fun stuff! I hadn't heard of the 'Don' breed before. The best horse I've ever known was my horse Nature's Khruschev - out of a Russian Orlov Trotter stallion, and an Arabian mare. Lari Shea (www.horse-vacation.com) came by an Orlov Trotter stallion - 'Nature's Ballet' decades ago and while she had him she bred many half-Orlov horses. We ended up with two of them - Khruschev and Quicksilver. Khruschev is now 17 and teaching a young girl how to do Endurance. Quicksilver is 18 and also still doing Endurance. (a little trivia, this mare bucked our Belgian friend Leo off before the start of the Outlaw Trail - 1996 I think :) =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
