the UAE are offering money to develop endurance racing all over the world, Cassandra crying from the battlements...


My personal impression of the announcement was "Anybody ever heard of "conflict of interest????" Imagine this if it were an election of some sort. An extremely rich candidate offers to pay for the training and expenses associated with such for all the vote counting election officials. As a matter of fact, the candidate's *wife* is the top official in the office that is in charge of making sure everything stays fair...and thank goodness she has the pull to get the money to treat everyone. Nothing is free. When lots of money comes in something is getting bought.

I am an extreme outsider so may be way off on many things. All I am saying for a fact is that this is the *perception* I get.
