[RC] shin splints - rides2far@xxxxxxxx"Lateral shin splints (sometimes called anterior shin splints) are usually due to overuse and inflammation of the anterior tibialis muscle and the muscle compartment in the front of the leg, along the outside front of your shin. > potentially have the same problem if you walked or ran briskly OK, I get these *sometimes* and Josie's had a real problem with them in competition. She's been walking a lot on the treadmill lately; is that good or bad? Would walking on the treadmill, especially a slope gradually condition the muscles so she'd be less likely to have the problem during competition? The worst case I ever got was in Vermont doing 100 miles on those ski slopes. It seemed that the downhills were what got me.
