Re: [RC] Farm Tools... opinions needed - Barbara McCraryMy husband and one of our sons-in-law are in the business of falling trees/manufacturing lumber (in reverse order.) We swear by Stihl saws...that's all we have. My own personal saw is a Stihl 021, but a better, newer one is an 025. We also have an MS200T. It is designed for limbing, but it works really well for cutting firewood, too. It has a smallish power head and is lighter weight than the 021, but it is pretty hot. Ours has 16" bar and I love to cut firewood with it because it is so powerful. It is pricey at $500+. At the lower price range you are looking at, I would suggest the Stihl 025. The Huskys are OK, I guess, but we much prefer Stihls. To make this endurance related, these are the saws we use to clear trails for our ride and our day-to-day riding. They last a long time and are very reliable. They are professional saws.Barbara ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mike Lewis" <mlewis73@xxxxxxxxx> To: "Ridecamp" <ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Saturday, March 03, 2007 9:55 AM Subject: [RC] Farm Tools... opinions needed Second to that, I have a 20" Poulan chainsaw that I bought at Lowe's last year. It throws its chain any time I try to cut tree trunks of more than about 8" up, even if I tension the chain before cutting. Can anyone suggest a better make/model of saw that will hold up to real use on a farm instead of the light residential duty that this junk seems to be designed for nowadays? I see Husqvarna makes a "Farm" model for about $375. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
