Depends on your background, I guess. In my stallion ad, I list "bone" which is the circumference of the cannon at it's narrowest point measured with a tight tape. That is the standard used in our breed and several others. However, I've seen some ads where folks must be listing the length of the cannon (a lot of people believe the shorter the cannon bone, the stronger it is -- but that's not necessarily true). Based on the photos that usually accompany that type of data, you might have to look at the cannon length in proporation to the rest of the body to tell exactly what they mean (and provided they didn't stretch the photo...). That's why I'm wondering about the exact wording in the ads to which you
refer. It could make a big difference. My stallion is a warmblood type (I say this because many people think they're draft horses but they're not) and "bone" is one of the things for which our breed is renowned (along with good blue feet and a sound mind).
