[RC] FEI Ride - k s swigartMike Lewis said: You have to carry a whip in an FEI ride?? No, you are forbidden from carrying a whip (or wearing spurs) in an FEI ride. AERC has no such prohibition. Does finishing (crossing the line) order determine placing in 50 miles rides? Yes. I thought the first to pulse down to finishing criteria determines placement. Only in LD rides. I did some digging and found out about the USEF registration and subsequent entry into FEI. It is certainly expensive... but isn't satisfactory completion of FEI rides at home kinda necessary if one ever wants to compete overseas? I don't know the rules for riding in local rides in other countries, so I don't know if successful completion of 50 FEI rides here in the states are a pre-requisite for that (I doubt it). However, if one wishes to compete for the US team in overseas competition, whether the 50 miles rides completed were FEI sanctioned or not has never been taken into consideration. For championship events (no matter where they are held) the FEI has a requirement that you (the rider only) that you have successfully completed (at a certain miles per hour), a 100 mile FEI ride. I suppose it is possible that at some future date, if the FEI decides to run its championship rides at the 50 mile distance instead of the 100 mile distance, that participation in FEI 50 mile rides here in the States might become relevant, but that day hasn't come yet. kat Orange County, Calif. :) =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
