[RC] Pres. Cup - Steph TeeterJust back yesterday and tons to catch up on. Woke up at 3:30am (I think that's about tea time in Abu Dhabi). I'll go through my email and address some of the questions that came through Ridecamp, and hopefully get a full write up this evening. Darcy's comment on the arab culture, bedouin culture was interesting - I put a link on the Pres Cup page - http://www.endurance.net/international/uae/2007prescup/ - to a book by Thesiger 'Arabian Sands'. (if you buy it via Amazon through Endurance.Net we get a few pennies with each sale :) Steve Rojek gave me this book to read last year. It's an absolute must for anybody with an inkling of curiosity about the arab/beduoin culture. Written by a british explorer about his travels in the arab gulf states in the 1940's... incredible book. It really helped me understand their culture as much as possible (some things we westerners will never be able to grasp). At any rate I highly recommend the book. Another good one is T.E. Lawrence (Lawrence of Arabia) Seven Pillars of Wisdom. That's pretty heavy though (figuratively and literally!).
