Re: [RC] that beautiful dressage test - heidi larsonthe original post (a couple weeks ago) with this link was sent by Sue Brown who loves her dressage and didn't mention anything bad about the mares tail. I showed to a friend of mine who does dressage and she said the mares ears appeared relaxed and happy, while a QH friend of mine (who used to show WP) and she was horrified by the tail movement. I've read comments that the mare is part arab and hence has more tail movement and uses her tail more as a rudder. I thought it was funny that the QH WP person thought the mare should have been marked down, but the dressage people didn't think it was a big deal. The mare looked happy to me and appeared to be a show off, even after her presentation was over. The black gelding, while "perfectly executed" seemed to just be going through the motions, lifeless (IMO) in contrast to the gray mare. Since I'm no dressage person, others comments on this are very interesting. When my horses
swish their tail about something upsetting/uncomfortable, they also accompany that with pinned ears, tight lips, hard eyes. When Ash starts a ride and wants to be in front and I'm having to restrain him, he flips his tail alot, but his ears are forward for the most part and his eyes are bright, more like he's begging to go fast. His show of being mad is throwing his head, with or without the tail swishing! heidi and kalasha Barbara McCrary <bigcreekranch@xxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote:
