They often carry their tails or swish them for balance. My gelding carries his tail cocked to the right all the time. He gets regular chiropractic checkups. It's not becuase of discomfort on his part, he just carries it that way.

Overall, this mare was engaged, has a bright look in her eye, I think she's showing off and knows she does a great job. Unfortunately, this rider lost out to Ankey, who has been known to use a lot of shortcuts.

I think this man and his horse should be commended. The grace and skill looks like it comes from a lot of work and bonding, not from weird bits or contraptions to force a hrose into a frame.

Good eyes, Anna.  I noticed the tail-wringing and thought I remembered that it was a sign of discomfort but I wasn't able to put it together with any particular leg.

That was an absolutely lovely test.  I also noticed the tailwringing, and that is much more pronounced when the right hind is engaged ? right lead canter, changing leads, or extremely engaged trot or passage.  I?m wondering if she might not be a bit uncomfortable in the right hindquarters, back or loin.  That might explain the onesidedness of it.  But she is not lame, and it is truly magnificent!
