Re: [RC] Will reducing the number of wt divisions change the numberof awards? - Diane Trefethen-----Original Message----- Kristen A Fisher wrote: So doesn't that [to an extent] reduce/eliminate the disadvantage of How do you figure? No matter how few awards are given in one division, it doesn't affect how many people YOU have to compete against if you are in a different division. The only way you could "reduce/eliminate the disadvantage" of being in a large division would be if AERC said, "Ok. We have 4 wt divisions so we will give out 40 awards and we'll pro-rate the number of awards per division based on the number of people riding in that division." That way if you had 100 riding in each FW and HW, 200 MW and 400 LT, AERC would dole out 20 awards to the LW div (5% of the number of LW riders), 10 to the MW div (5% of the MW riders), and 5 each to the FW and HW divs (5% of the FW and HW riders). Thus, no matter what div you rode in, you'd have a 1 in 20 chance of getting an award. THAT would eliminate the disadvantage of riding in a division with more riders. BTW... I am NOT, NOT, NOT suggesting this as a program!!!!!
