RE: [RC] Comfort Issues on Long Rides - Kristen A FisherI would be careful about shaving - the skin can get irritated so that you actually get MORE irritation. Plus the grow-out period is horribly unpleasant. I still can't say enough about Body Glide. The worst rubs I get tend to be at the fold of the knee and they are like burns. My half chaps were giving me one in a 50 I did a couple months ago - I could feel it in the first loop. I needed to keep the chaps on, so at every VC I liberally applied more BG. I did have a bit of a mark at the end of the day [8.5+ hour 50] but VERY minor. Body Glide rocks. BTW at that same ride I used it along the girth and croup area of my horse who has very sensitive skin and tends to get scurfy in those areas about a week after a ride and he was totally fine too. Kristen in TX Being a man with hairy legs, I assume the skin loss problem can be solved only by checking my pride and shaving my legs. I'm guessing the numb calves can be solved by lowering the stirrups a bit so that the stirrup leathers don't put pressure on them. These are starting points, but I'm interested in knowing what others who have experienced these issues suggest. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
