I guess if that includes robbing a bank, paying for a ride instead of a
child's shoes, and other less respectable methods, this is true - sorry - but
the idea that any hobby (and this is a privilege) should take precedent over
anything else in one's life or worse yet in a family's life...well, let's just
say that I wanted my kids to be able to take part in what THEY felt they
were good at and were passionate about. IN addition, no matter what some people
do, they simply do not HAVE the resources to enjoy this or any pursuit.
Commitment and responsibility kinda gets in the way of this sport, but that's
okay - my own mom was very selfless - I wish I could BE like her. This sport, if
done RIGHT, requires a ton of time, and frankly, I don't think it should EVER be
at the expense and sacrifice of others, without their honest and enthusiastic
approval. Lots of things I wan't "bad enough" that just won't happen - because
as one strives NOT to be self-absorbed and more thoughtful others things become
desirable and so one has to sit out a while - for a season or two - to make way
for other more IMPORTANT things, like raising kids to be decent, honorable
and not a friggin nuisance to everyone else in their lives because they raised
themselves. I know a lot of people who compete have kids and have HAd kids- and
put them first, occasionally second:). Good for you, because someday they will
honor you. My horse will be dead and gone and my record will be...on a
need-to-know basis - but all the rest of life - now THAT is something I want
"bad enough". Back to laundry for now:) - it is snowing anyway
