Re: [RC] Weight Divisions - Angie FuraI agree that revision is needed. I would take it one step further and suggest that we have none at all (with the exception of juniors). In my opinion, rewarding top achievers in each weight division is counter to our sport's mantra "to finish is to win." We should focus more on longevity and mileage rather than top 10 finishes.
But I realize that there are all sorts of riders in this sport. We must make room for all styles and preferences within reason. If we have to have any weight divisions, limit it to two, lightweight and heavyweight. Anything more than that seems like an excuse to hand out more awards.
Thanks for spearheading this issue. It needs to be on the radar screen. I hope to get some discussion going on this idea before the Convention, and have some discussion of weight divisions at the Membership Meeting. -- Joe Long jlong@xxxxxxxxxxxxx =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
