[RC] safety vests for riders? - Jennifer AdamHello ridecamp-Two people nearby recently had nasty falls from horseback. One was barrel racing in a practice arena - her horse slipped and fell on her, crushing four or five ribs. She's in the hospital now and not very happy. The other was a guy saddle breaking a stud - the horse bucked him off into a rail fence, but he had a safety vest on and only suffered a couple minor bruises. He said he never does anything around horses without a vest. He's been kicked in the chest, had a horse fall on him, and has been thrown I don't know how many times. My husband has been nagging me to wear a vest around the mustangs but they look uncomfortable to me. I don't have much padding of my own so I can see they would help prevent bruised or broken bones, but I spend *a lot* of time on the ground with my horses trying to prevent any situation that would make a vest necessary in the first place. However, I know the unexpected can always happen, so I"m wondering... Do any of you wear vests? What is the correct way to measure for one?? Are they hot? Thanks - Jen Adam _________________________________________________________________ Don?t miss your chance to WIN 10 hours of private jet travel from Microsoft Office Live http://clk.atdmt.com/MRT/go/mcrssaub0540002499mrt/direct/01/ =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
