Re: [RC] Shoeing question - experiences with clips and hot fitting - Truman PrevattIf I didn't use clips on the hind shoes of most of my horses - they would come right out of them. My farrier uses smaller nails to minimize the damage to the hoof and fewer (5 to 6 instead of 8). My shoes stay on fine with this - mostly because of the clips.I have used clips on the back for near on to 15 years and they work just fine. I've used them from time to time on the front. I would not shoe a horse without clips on the hind shoes. Truman rides2far@xxxxxxxx wrote: I used clips for a long time with Kaboot. I liked them because it took some stress off the nails and the foot would stay looking better. My farrier used fairly small nails since Kaboot's feet grow slow and the holes would get close together. During that time he sometimes wore out the shoe and the nail heads get really ground down. The clips probably helped keep the shoes on when those nail heads were sheared off too. -- “Since when have we Americans been expected to bow submissively to authority and speak with awe and reverence to those who represent us?” Justice William O.
