The section of trail that I saw them working on yesterday (got one more
ride in before the rain!) did not include Training Hill, but it was on the
easier trail that runs sort of parallel to Hwy 49.
Oh, OK. I know where you mean.
When Tom said "Pointed Rocks down to No-Hands", I figured he
meant the training hill. But from what you say, I assume he's
talking about the trail that starts in the meadow before you
go as far as Pointed Rocks?
Did it look like they were working on the trail at the very
bottom of the training hill, before you make the switchback
down onto the bridge?
As of yesterday, they had not gone onto Pig Farm but they were headed
that direction. I don’t think they’d been on Short Cut either, but
I might have missed that because I haven’t actually been on Short Cut in
over a year due to the low tunnel effect of the overgrowth. In reading the
notes on the website I just found, the work is going to be done on the Wendell
Robie trail “between” Short Cut and Pig Farm that is going to get
the work. That makes since to me as it is much used, very badly rutted, and
more accessible for the machinery. I also found a site which has pics of that section of the trail, if anyone is interested
in seeing the condition of this trail. http://www.gcer.org/trailstuff/robietrail.htm
Check them out. I did once see a trail of blood for over a mile on the trail
leading into Cool from this area. The owner said her horse had cut it’s leg on either protruding roots or rock. You can
see how this could occur when you’re riding in a deep narrow ditch with
no wiggle room.
