I wasn't referencing a horse breaking a leg from a kick, but rather a rider's broken leg from another horses kick. Your horse could possibly be taught to be more comfortable about other horses around, then woudn't kick defensively. :o)

My horse is a defensive kicker, so if I discipline for
it, it re-enforces that the horse behind is indeed out
to get her and needs to be feared, thereby making the
behavior worse.  So my humongous red bow with skull
and crossbones streamers is more to protect MY horse
than yours.
