RE: [RC] Humane Society - heidiI may be wrong but does each society run themselves? In Canada they do. There was a special report on TV about a Quebec Shelter that called intself Humane Society of Canada. They were getting huge donations from people thinking it was a national body and the money would be spread around. That was not the case. The message they sent out was know where you money is going when you donate. Paddi Sprecher Yep. And that's the basic message here. As Tom Noll mentioned, the Idaho HS does a really good job, as do many other local or regional groups. Our county-based HS where I live is another really good one that does amazing things on a very limited budget. But there are those specific groups that view themselves as some kind of over-arching authority and are very heavy-handed, and the HSUS is indeed a thoroughly corrupt and PETA-like group.
