Re: [RC] Pigeon Fever - Janice Taylor - Kathy MayedaI bet you won't know until you try conditioning him up. Drako has had PF in his chest two years ago, and I don't expect it to be a problem if and when he gets conditioned up. I've heard of one other case of internal abscessing where the horse was retired afterwards - he never did bounce back.K/ ----- Original Message ----- From: "sherman" <sherman@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: <ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sunday, December 09, 2007 3:22 PM Subject: [RC] Pigeon Fever - Janice Taylor
Kathy Hi all, Thought I'd ask if anyone has any experiences, success or otherwise about using a horse that has had Pigeon Fever. Was there any lasting damage to prevent you from using the horse in endurance? I have a good prospect for my Granddaughter, but he had a bad case of PF for a couple of months this fall, (lesions on his back mostly). He was just pronounced clear by the vet. Just wondering if it would be a problem when we start conditioning hard if something might crop up?
