Re: [RC] re: age per miles /riding alone - Nancy SturmI think we all have to choose the risks we accept for ourselves. Of courwe there is some risk in riding alone. Three years ago, while out riding alone, I went off and broke my back in two places, had the backboard ambulance ride and the whole drill - not a bit fun and I still have a lot of pain. However, riding alone is one of the joys of my life. At age 65, I know I don't have as many riding years ahead of me as I once had. I'm rather hoping for another 20 years and have already bought the horse of my future, an Icelandic, but life throws us some curves sometimes. We have good cell service here and I carry my cell phone. I try to remember to tell someone where I'm going, and I will ask them , "If he comes back without me, will you come looking please?" We have had two neighbors die as a result of household falls and a third die whe the truck he was preparing to wash in his front yard ran over him. I didn't start wearing my riding helmet to climb on step stools. And I'm sure not going to quit riding.
