Not necessarily abused, but
definitely "exhausted," as in, "Your horse must be really tired. Look
how sweaty he is." I'd like a dollar for every time I've heard
that.

Or they don't understand that you don't gallop up the
hills and then stop to let your horse catch their breath. Or that your
your horse gets (shudder) sweaty. After all, a sweaty horse is an abused
horse.....
