Re: [RC] Waterproof turnout sheets - Sisu West RanchI suspect that it is the washing, not the reproofing that is the problem. If you are using a waterproofing that depends upon low surface energy (Silicone, Fluorochemical (i. e. Scotchgard®, Teflon®) it only takes minute amounts of soap residue to cause it to leak.If the blankets were mine, and I blanketed horses in pasture*, I would simply hose the blankets down at intervals and not worry further. At intervals a re-application of waterproofing would be in order. I have used Thompson's Water Seal to good effect. It has a couple of problems. First it is a polymer and forms a rather stiff impermeable film. Second it is solvent based and should be applied outside. I'd bet the stock would like to be in warm stalls, but that is not in the cards. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
