[RC] CRIs - Susan E. Garlinghouse, DVMAlso note that newbie or not, EVERY rider is always subject to a CRI at any time, anywhere. Maybe the way to play this is just to let riders know that at the ride meeting (most already do know it), and that we're here to help newbies (really) by watching a little closer to help them identify when their horse is in trouble. And offer a special Newbie High Vet Score or whatever to encourage them identifying when they're new. I know we won't ever nail every SOB. I know this isn't the first time or the last time. What I don't know is why that should preclude trying always to find ways to prevent future treatments whenever we can. A new rule or not won't much change the way I vet rides. I sure would like something that gave me a cheat sheet of who's a little more likely to get into trouble, though.
