[RC] education of riders - Tx TriggerA rider is only going to "learn" if they WANT to learn. I have met too many who want to come try an endurance ride, and don't ask any questions, because they THINK they know it all. I mean really, how tough can it be to ride 25 miles? Many of these new riders already think they ride that far every weekend. They don't feel the need to ask questions, or feel the need to attend new rider briefings. They do not seek information on endurance on line, they are not members of ridecamp. Many hear of a local endurance ride, on the trails they ride, and they enter. THOSE are the people we need to reach. We don't need the same kind of mentors, education, and guidance to the above type of riders, as we do to those who ASK the questions, come on RC and request a mentor. They have already taken that step to find out more, as they KNOW they have things to learn. But again, you can't teach, if they don't want to listen and learn. So, how to we prevent the type of problems that happened at the Mariposa ride?
