The mentor will be endowed with complete control of the pacing and procedures. When the newcomer has done a few of these and becomes familiar with what it takes to get a horse through a ride safely, then he can take off the training wheels and solo.How I would have benefited from a mentor when I started riding endurance in 1971! I was so clueless, and even now, it is still possible to make a misjudgment.
