Yeah, I was very happy when we left California upon
my graduation from grad school.
In the Monterey-Salinas area, I was forbidden to
obtain a concealed carry permit because I, 1) didn't close a business after 1:00
AM and, 2) couldn't prove I was being stalked.
No joke. I'm an active duty military
officer who has been entrusted with responsible handling of several weapons (and
has proved competence with each of them), yet the Monterey County Sheriff
wouldn't let me pack a 9 mm pistol for personal protection in an area with
significant, proven, gang activity.
Gotta love it... Let's protect the criminals
and jeopardize the innocent. As a very competent shooter, I could have
taken care of any threat LONG before the police would have arrived to "protect"
me or my family.
Don't get me started. I live in California, where the
laws are written so that - unless you have a CCW permit - you cannot have a
gun in your car that is at all accessible in an emergency. And of
course, in my neck of the woods, it is very difficult to get a CCW permit.
Nice catch-22.

You know, the gun may not be FOR ridecamp. We do have to get
there and to get back home. Now days, it's not safe for anyone to be

This just struck me as such a funny
comment!! The way its written, it makes it sound like people
actually specifically bring guns to ridecamp. Is this so? If so,
why? To shoot the loose dogs? To shoot the loud generator? To shoot the
person banging buckets at 3 am? Or???

Life's a
journey, so enjoy the ride (and try not to fall
off)
