Funny that you mentioned that!  I tried a "tactical whippet" (whippet hidden 
inside my sleeping bag) several years ago, and that worked perfectly.

Myself and the dog had about the same percentage body fat and just weren't 
dealing with the 38-degree temperatures well.  The trick worked like a 
charm.

Alas, I no longer have that sweet (although stupid) little whippet and our 
two inbred, redneck country dogs don't do too well in sleeping bags...
